Azheke, a Hani village of thatched mushroom houses

Near Aichun, Yuanyang

Azheke keeps its traditional Hani 'mushroom houses', with thick thatched roofs over earth walls, and sees far fewer visitors than the viewpoints. Entry to the village is about ¥30, and the income is shared with the families who live there. The terraces around it are free to look at.

What locals sayTravelers like it because it's quiet and lived-in, a contrast to the busy platforms.
