Duoyishu at sunrise, watched from your guesthouse roof
Duoyishu, Yuanyang
Duoyishu is Yuanyang's sunrise viewpoint, and on good mornings a sea of cloud fills the valley below the terraces. Sunrise is about 7:50 am in January, 7:20 by mid-March and 6:50 by mid-April; be on the roof 20–30 minutes before. Guesthouses in Pugao Laozhai (普高老寨) and around Huangcaoling (黄草岭) look straight onto the Duoyishu terraces, so you can watch from the roof terrace.
What locals sayMany say sleeping with a view of Duoyishu beats driving in the dark to stand on a crowded platform.
