Lushi, Fengqing County
Lushi was a key stop on the Tea Horse Road, in the hills between the Lancang and Heihui rivers. The stepped stone main street, the square called Sifang Street and the Luo family courtyard (骆家大院) survive with their original woodwork, and some of the old caravan inns take guests. Stay the night to have the lanes to yourself in the evening and at dawn, and order ham and quince chicken (火腿木瓜鸡) for dinner.
