Don't do Wengding as a day trip from Lincang city
Lincang city to Cangyuan
Wengding is close to three hours by road from Lincang city each way, so a day trip means two long drives, no morning at the cliff paintings and no evening in Cangyuan. Spend two nights in Cangyuan town instead, or fly straight into Cangyuan's airport from Kunming.
