Golden Temple Park: a bronze hall in the forest on Mingfeng Hill

Northeast Kunming

On a wooded hill in the city's northeast stands a Taoist hall cast in bronze more than 300 years ago. Locals come for the shady forest paths as much as for the temple. The usual loop runs from the north gate through Taihe Palace to the Golden Hall and the bell tower, and out the east gate.

What locals sayLocal visitors describe it as a quiet forest walk with history, far calmer than the downtown sights.
