Mingyong Glacier: a forest boardwalk to the ice, if it's open
Mingyong village, across the Lancang valley from Feilaisi
The glacier flows off Kawagebo, and its tongue reaches down into the forest well below 3,000 m, one of the lowest-reaching glaciers in China. A scenic-area shuttle, then trails and boardwalks, take you up through the trees to viewpoints over the ice; allow a half day on site and take the climb slowly.
What locals sayVisitors love the walk through the forest to the ice but warn that the steps are tiring and slick after rain.
