Weishan: breakfast noodles, then a slow walk through a Ming grid town
Weishan, about 1 hour south of Xiaguan
Weishan, where the Nanzhao kingdom began, keeps a Ming-era grid of low wooden shopfronts laid out between Gongchen Tower and Xinggong Tower. Arrive by 9 a.m. for ersi topped with braised pork or 'one noodle', a single long hand-pulled strand, then wander the side streets while shops are still serving locals.
What locals sayMost posts describe Weishan as an old town that still belongs to the people who live there, with little of Dali's commercial polish.
